Things can change!

Well a week or so has gone by since my last post on the National and we've seen a few of the entries having a run.
We have also heard that Total Recall is now being aimed at the Gold Cup by connections as well as reports that Definitely Red is unlikely to be running in the National.
Blaklion, on the other hand, will be going straight for the Grand National after his flop at Haydock. He looked to be struggling with the weight there being readily brushed aside by Yala Enki and he was not in Red Rums league on that performance.
Dr Newlands Abolitionist is out of the big race as his stable have run out of time to get him ready - which is a pity and we'll have to wait for next season.
So where does that leave us-Caroles Destrier came out at Doncaster in a decent veterans chase over 3m but he was never firing in that and it was nothing like his true form. as we know he was 8th in this seasons Hennesy and he's been dropped a few pounds since then. Connections didn't find anything coming to light afterwards and he remains on course for the big race, We may well see him next at Cheltenham as he looks to rediscover his form.
Chase The Spud ran in the Eider at Newcastle last weekend on going that you would have thought would suit but he was pulled up 4 out having lost touch with the field.
Others on my shortlist such as I Just Know, Vicente and Seeyouatmidnight all appear to be still on course and all three are entered in the William Hill Grimthorpe Chase over 3m 2f at Doncaster this Saturday which should help with our deliberations over the coming weeks as that looks a well contested trial at this stage.
