Day Four Late Thoughts

Gold Cup day!!

You seem to get a better class of 100/1 these days - I remember when Norton's Coin won at 100/1 and nobody gave him a cat in hells chance pre race and that a pantomime horse would have been quicker. Now in 2016 we get the likes of a previous Cheltenham winner Irish Cavalier set to go off at 100/1 or higher - how things change.

Sad news that old TV stalwart Cliff Michelmore has died at the age of 96. He presented the first televised Grand National in 1960 and in so doing secured his place in Aintree folklore.

Tom Segal continued his dire week at Cheltenham with another 8 losers leaving him 18 points down heading into the last day and it might be best to avoid what he tips! - luckily he's on none of mine.
Steve Mason napped a Dan Skelton runner the other day which ran very well and the ratings tips throw up three Skelton runners in the handicaps today in Superb Story(Nap), Work In Progress and Savello - maybe this is the day he will get onto the winners podium.

Kayf Tara's Thistlecrack took him to the top of the Sires at the festival leader board and his £5,000 covering fee looks to money well spent. Tghistlecracks owner had to go to £165,000 to secure his sister at the Cheltenham sale last night.

If we look at the leaders on time(pre Cheltenham) since August 2015 for Novice Hurdlers we have :
Yanworth 153 - 2nd in the Neptune
Altior 151 - 1st in the Supreme
Yorkhill 151 - 1st in the Neptune
Min 150 - 2nd in the Supreme
Barters Hill 149 - Runs in the Albert Bartlett and avaialble at 9/2(a head scratcher)
Charbel 149 - 5th in the Supreme

On a final note lets hope that Victoria Pendleton doesn't shoot racing in the foot and puts in a very good ride on Pacha Du Polder.

Good Luck and I will be back for the start of the flat season and searching out those big sprint winners once again.
