Nothing Doing !

Another quiet day for the blog selection wise as neither stable we are following has a runner.

Dan Skelton had Master Jake entered at Sedgefield but that meeting has been lost to the weather - like many others.

Paul Nicholls had entered a few at Huntingdon namely Adrien Du Pont and Connetable in the Class 2 Juvenile Hurdle and Katgary in the Class 3 novices limited handicap chase but none of those take their chance. In the juvenile Adrien Du Pont had already come up against Sceau Royal twice this season and probably didn't want another re match whilst Connetable is unraced for the yard.

Both Warwick and Wetherby look like being on tomorrow - unless there's significant snowfall !! and both Skelton and Nicholls have horses entered.

On a completely different note Chester  racecourse has announced that it will be paying £400.00 appearance money to connections of each horse that runs at any of their meetings which, according to the RP, could cost the course a quarter of a million next season. The clerk of the course isn't really sure what the true cost will be but it seems that the racecourse hierarchy are just happy that it will be beneficial to the connections of all those that do choose to run.
Surely though there is more to it than that - what's in it for the racecourse ? Well they have had their own tote system "ChesterBet" since 2012 and perhaps this is a way of increasing the pools throughout the year so that it is more attractive for punters to attend the track - thus increasing the pools further and so on and so on !. What do they say "You have to speculate to accumulate".

I will do my post for tomorrow's racing later this afternoon after 5.00pm.
