The Festival - Day 3

Half way through the week and things are going quite well with another winner today - on the 17th February 2015 in my blog post I wrote the following :

Moon Racer, who was purchased by his connections for 225,000.00 after winning a bumper at Fairyhouse back in 2014 was the impressive12L winner of a bumper at Cheltenham in October. It was a race which contained a number of previous winners and his connections, despite temptations to run in other races at the festival, have stated that this race will be his target. You couldn't fail to be impressed by the manner of his win at Cheltenham, leading for all but the first furlong at a good tempo before powering away to win easily and at 12/1 with most bookmakers he is a fair price for this as I cant see him being out of the first 3.

I'm hoping that it's going to be another good day for the David Pipe stable as I've gone with a few of theirs on Thursday.

1.30 JLT Novices Chase
This is probably another for the Mullins/Walsh bandwagon

2.05 Pertemps Network Final
The top 24 in the Handicap remained in the race at the overnight stage and I have already backed David Pipe's Unique De Cotte who gets in on 10-9. He seems to have been prepared with a Cheltenham handicap in mind. He won here earlier in the season and he also won well at Ascot recently.

2.40 Ryanair Chase
Some would say Hidden Cyclone is too old at 10 to win this but he ran well here last year and I'm hoping that he will do so again.

3.20 Ladbrokes World Hurdle
I think this is pretty wide open - there is nothing in the field that shouts out "Back Me" and for that reason there are 17 runners and I will be watching from the settee.

4.00 Brown Advisory & Merriebelle Stable Plate
This is another race where I took advantage of "Non Runner No Bet" leading up to the festival and I backed Monetaire in all engagements. He looks to have been put away for this after his win at Newbury in November and he gets in here at the bottom of the handicap and hopefully Tom Scudamore can guide him home.

4.40 Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup
The Package although 12 ran a good race last year to finish 8 3/4 length third to Holywell and Ma Filleule and he's dropped 4lb in the handicap since then. He seems to have been campaigned with Cheltenham in mind and the slightly extra distance and the booking of leading amateur J J Codd make the 16/1 on offer with several bookmakers tempting.

Good Luck !
