It's Game On !

Well today Nocturnal Affair became the first winner of the year for the 2012 Master List of sprinters that can be found on the link to the right of the page. (You will also see another link there for 3yo sprinters).

Nocturnal Affair was the 6/1 co fav, so it was a decent price to get the ball rolling.

The list is well worth a read and why not take advantage of Attheraces horse alert system to keep you informed as to when they will all be running and you will be sure to see plenty of winners along the way.
The flat season is now only 6 weeks away, so it's time to dig out all those flat annuals that you've put up in the loft and start making plans for the first day of the season, which is back at Doncaster on the 31st March. The first day kicks off with the likes of the Lincoln, the Brocklesby and the Cammidge Trophy.

Im really looking forward to it and having purchased a couple of small shares with Middleham Park Racing in 2yo's Ayr Missile and Tatlisu it will give me an extra dimension.

Please remember I am not a professional tipster and all the information provided on the blog, including the horses to follow pages, have taken considerable time to prepare and any donation you wish to make will be gratefully received and who knows you may even be rewarded.

Piscean wins at 11/2 !

A good win for Piscean at Wolverhampton yesterday as he fairly scooted up the inside under Spencer to win at 11/2 and making it the first win of this year for the blog from 3 selections. Hopefully there will be many more to come throughout the year as every year that goes by the more tuned I will become to the sprint game, who says winning on the AW is difficult.

This week sees the Raceform Flat Annual for 2012 become available.
This is the official results from the British Horseracing Authority for British and Irish racing for the 2011 Flat season, plus principal international races. Each race has comments-in-running for every horse, plus exclusive Notebook comments, pinpointing winners for the next season. The comments are collected throughout the year by Raceform's experienced race-readers who attend every meeting at every racecourse. Also includes a full index, essential statistics for leading owners, trainers and jockeys, and speed figures.

All Weather Scoop 6 today

A great day ahead for All Weather fans, several races on terrestial tv and all 6 races of the Scoop 6 to get your teeth into and with two 6f races to get you started.

Yesterday was a dissapointing effort by the selection Nocturnal Affair in finishing 5th and it maybe that he will be returning home now that he has had two races out in Dubai. Ironically the 8/1 winner Monsieur Joe  featured in last season's Master List, so it's a reminder to keep all these horses under observation.

Hitchens won the Group 3 sprint on yesterdays card and his trainer said aftrewards "This horse has been brilliant for us and it is great to see him win on the international stage at this level. There is a similar race on Super Saturday which is probably where we will go next before, hopefully, Dubai World Cup night."

With only just under 8 weeks to the start of the flat season we need to start making preparations for that, if anyone has any horses which they think are potential improvers in the sprint division then please let me know and I will review their propects for the blog.

There is still plenty of speculation about whether Black Caviar will go to Dubai or not and and at this stage Peter Moody her trainer would appear to be playing it down, commenting today"The big negative against Dubai is she's going to be away from home for three or four months. She's going to be away from me, the jockeys, the staff, the vet, the farrier, the chiropractor. She's going to have access to those facilities over there but it's going to be a different scenario. She's a mare that takes a fair bit of maintenance so that's a big negative and there are a lot of great races here."
Royal Ascot looks more of a proposition with her stepping up to 7f for her naxt race in Australia with Moody thinking that she wil need to be able to win over that distance to be sure she will stay the 6f at Ascot.
If Black Caviar were to run in Dubai, it will be for a $1.2 million first prize, as well as a $600,000 bonus offered by the Victoria Racing Club for any horse that can win the Patinack Farm Stakes on the last day of the spring carnival and any other of the nine legs of the global sprint challenge. If she then ran in the Golden Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot or the July Cup at Newmarket, she would be eligible for two more bonuses. A win over here would make Black Caviar eligible for a further $1 million bonus for winning three legs of the global sprint challenge in the same calendar year. All in all it could be a very lucrative year for the sprint super mare.

In the third leg of the Scoop 6 the 2.40 at Woverhampton Jamie Spencer is an interesting booking for Piscean who is now 6lb lower than his last win on the All Weather, which was also at Wolverhampton in November last winter when beating Sutton Veny by 1 1/2 lengths. He was running on well in his last race at Lingfield and Spencer is obviously seen as that extra bit of umph to get him home in front on this his second try at 7f which he always looks capable of getting.

Good luck to everyone today.

Nocturnal Affair to go one better !

Nocturnal Affair should go well at Meydan on Friday at 12.45 over 5f on the turf track. He was second last time here behind Addictive Dream beaten half a length and this strong traveller looks set to go one better off the same mark, the winner having gone in again off a 5lb higher mark here. Humidor and Internationaldebut can follow him home.
Below is the selections extract from the blogs Master List (see link to page opposite)

NOCTURNAL AFFAIR (SAF) This ex South African gelding joined David Marnane in Ireland on his return back from Dubai and he returned to the track in August 2011 and in doing so recorded 2 wins from his 4 starts winning The Portland handicap in the process off a mark of 101 and looking better than a handicapper. He was then 5th of 20 and a total of 17 lengths behind the improving Sirius Prospect at York over 6f on going described as Good. Finally he ran at Dundalk on the All Weather winning the Listed 5f Moyglare Stakes by ½ a length from Breathless Kiss in a time of 57.70. A horse not lacking in pace he remains on a mark of 105 and he should be capable of further improvement in 2012.
